Best Uniden Radar Detector Reviews

Uniden DFR7

Uniden DFR7 review is 360 degrees, super long range radar and laser detector. Its dimensions are 110.00 mm (D) x 69.00 mm (W) x 29.50 mm (H) and the weight is 170 g, as you can see the device is slightly heavier than the previous versions and it looks like the DFR 6 model I have mentioned above.

Uniden DFR7 Super Long Range Radar

The design of the device is modern and the color is black, so it’s not distracting. This version is the most popular within the DFR series. On the first look, it has almost the same buttons and features like the previous one. There are four regular buttons above the display and two of them below the display.

There are only two basic modes: Highway and City. But, the false alarms are still reduced: it has a POP alert, GPS and one smaller but powerful button Mark. GPS is integrated within the device and provides Red Light and Speed camera locations. Then, the Mark button: you can mark locations if you expect radars, lasers or any other supervision of speed limits.

Also, you can use the button Mute to memory the location where you do not want the warning, and the alarm still goes on. You can add locations to the Mute memory and you can also delete them. When we talk about display itself, it is large and it is ultra bright so it is visible from various angles.

You can mount the Uniden DFR7 for sale under the windshield or on the dashboard, and the hardware is not so sensitive. It is important to take regular care of it such as wipe it sometimes with a soft cloth to keep the dust away.

Uniden DFR5

Dfr5 is Undine’s long range laser and radar detector. It covers 360 degrees around the vehicle. Its dimensions are 110.00 mm (D) x 69.00 mm (W) x 29.50 mm (H) and the weight is 115g.

Uniden DFR5 Long Range Radar

The design of Uniden Dfr5 radar detector reminds of an old digital alarm clock so it’s a little bit old fashioned. The color is neutral black so it will not distract your attention during the ride. Device itself is very user-friendly; it has only four large buttons above the display. You can choose brightness, volume and mode. Later versions have more functions which you will be able to find starting with the Dfr7 review.

The mode can be switched between City and Highway, so this implies there could be a problem with false alarms since it has only two basic modes. This device can be installed on two places in the vehicle: the front windshield or on the dashboard. You should always make sure the view is clear so there are no wipes in front of it, or anything else that would cause trouble in detecting lasers and radars.

Uniden DFR5 Long Range Radar review

This Uniden protector radar has ten features and they are all pretty much regular. Despite that, it can provide you with decent protection because it has an important POP alert. The device comes in the box with all the necessary tools needed for valid usage. It means you don’t have to buy power cord or the mount bracket separately. You also get the user’s manual, but it is not very detailed.

Another thing to say, you will probably not be able to adjust everything you want on the menu during the ride because it is a process and you will need to focus on it. It comes with a 1-year limited warranty and you should note the hardware itself is very sensitive. For example, you should not physically use it when choosing the bracket angle and you should not leave it in the vehicle during the summer.

Uniden DFR6

DFR6 is super long-range radar detector of 360 degrees. Its dimensions are 110.00 mm (D) x 69.00 mm (W) x 29.50 mm (H)and weight is 170g. As you can see it is heavier than the previous version, DFR5. The design is modern and the color is beautiful black. It has ultra-bright OLED display so visual alerts are very visible. It has standard buttons above the display, like every other Uniden radar detector.

Under the display, there are two more buttons, Mute and City. Since this is still an older version of the device, you can mute the sound just at the particular moment. It means you cannot mark locations where you do not want the alert in advance because this Uniden DFR6 for sale does not have a Mute Memory like some next versions, Dfr7 or Lrd950 for example.

It also does not have the Mark button (you can read more about it in Dfr 7 review) so you cannot note the locations where you expect speed control. City button provides switching just between Highway and City mode, but again false alarms are reduced by POP and advanced K band filter. The device sometimes has problems and sends unnecessary warnings as a reaction on automatic door openers etc.

Again, you can mount this Uniden DFR6 radar detector under the windshield or on the dashboard. Mounting on the dashboard can be a better choice due to the poor quality of bracket – the device often falls down. It comes with a one year limited warranty and the maintenance consists of dusting once in a while. Furthermore, you should update firmware periodically but it will not be a problem since there is an available online guideline.

Uniden LRD 950

This is the Uniden’s super long laser and radar detector of 360 degrees. This is the “older relative” of the DFR7 so you can see they are very similar. Its dimensions are just like DFR7s, 110.00 mm (D) x 69.00 mm (W) x 29.50 mm (H) and the weight is 170g.

Uniden LRD950 Laser Radar Detector

The device has all the buttons just like the DFR7, so you can adjust the volume up to seven levels, you can choose the brightness of the screen, and you can switch between Highway and City modes and Mark or Mute locations (you can find more about those functions in Uniden Dfr7 review). Uniden LRD950 laser radar detector also comes with GPS and all the standard features, you can put it on two locations in the vehicle and it has a one year limited warranty.

So, what is the main difference between this version and DFR7?  First, it is the dual, black and silver color. The design of the device is modern, its sides are silver and the middle is black so it is not monotonous. Also, you use The uniden LRD950 mirror mount to secure your device.

However, some people might find this silver as a distraction from the road. It has few firmware versions and one K band filter option while DFR7 has two K band filters. Furthermore, you will probably not be able to use the same power cord on both devices.

Sometimes users can have a problem when downloading the database and software update due to poor information in the manual. On the other hand, there are many forums where people exchange their experience with the device so you have more ways to figure all out. The device in general works correctly and there are not too many false alarms.

Uniden Gps Radar Detector

Uniden R3

R3 is an extreme long-range radar and laser detector of 360 degrees. Its design is different from those above, but it looks nice. Its dimensions are 110.00 mm (D) x 69.00 mm (W) x 29.50 mm (H), the weight is 140g and the mounting is regular.

It has large OLED display where you can choose between five levels. You will get a visual alert even in the Dark mode, so alerts are very visible and you can even choose between six letter colors. It has user-friendly buttons on the same positions as previous versions. Therefore, what makes a huge difference apart from hardware, are of course – features.

Uniden R3 Extreme Long Range Radar

This Uniden gps radar detector combo provides maximum warnings for your safety and yet, it avoids false alarms. It uses GPS for Red light and Speed cameras and it has advanced K and Ka band filters. With this device, you can Mark up to 200 locations and you can mute the same amount.

There are three City modes: Highway, City and City 2 (X band is completely turned off), so you can see it is an improvement in comparison to Uniden Dfr7 and Lrd950. You can also choose your own speed limit and get an alert if you pass it. You can even use the Quiet ride option – if you drive under the speed limit, the unit will beep only once.

The device comes with a one year limited warranty and maintenance is simple, just the regular dusting and keeping the power cord free of corrosion. Sometimes you will have to update the database but just follow the instructions. User’s manual is very detailed and you can find all the necessary information there.

This version is more expensive due to all the improvements. Also, it comes with two mount brackets for the windshield – if the device falls down you can use another, larger one. The device will stand on its position, but with the larger bracket, you cannot choose as many angles as with a smaller one.

Uniden LRD450 Laser Radar Detector

This Uniden will alert you if there are X, K and Ka band alarms as well as POP and Laser alert alarms. It is an all black model which is very convenient since it will fit in any car design. The detector radar Uniden itself is very small and it’s mounted on your windshield.

Unfortunately, this model does not have voice alerts so you’ll have to keep an eye on the easy to read icon display to know which signal has been activated.
